The Lectric Legends partnered with Lockheed Martin to host an outreach event and invited local teams to join us. Mentors Stephanie and Tiffany taught us about Change Management. Mentor Daniel led us through a hands-on activity of what streamlined production looks like, as we worked through various stations of building planes from bricks. He taught us the acronym TIMWOOD, which is a LEAN acronym for ways to eliminate waste: Transportation, Inventory, Motion, Waiting, Overproduction, Over processing, Defects.
We were invited by FTC Team 20694, Craft Coalition, to meet on November 19, in Morehead, KY. We talked robotics, helped each other figure out problems, and ate pizza at their facility.
Kick-Off East
September 7, 2024 Raceland, KY
Legends Violet and Connor introduced FIRST Lego League to a group of 50 elementary-aged students, telling them all about how teams design, build, and program Lego robots to complete missions. They showed them this season's Submerged video. Eager students gathered around the Lego table and mission models to see how they worked. Connor led the students through the design process for 2 of the missions. Violet helped 2 groups of students simulate what beginner programmers do through "verbal" block programming, as 2 "Mom-Bots" followed a path to reach their endmark. They finished by sharing with parents how to start an FLL team.
The Lectric Legends had a great time volunteering at the first-ever River BOaT Rumble FRC event in Louisville. The Legends demoed our FTC bot from last season and also made a new 4-legged bot friend, Reggie.

Georgetown College LEGO Robotics Camp
July 11 & 17, 2024 Georgetown, KY
We visited Georgetown College LEGO EV3 camp in Georgetown, KY. On July 11th and July 17th, we demonstrated last year's robot, which attended the World Competition, talked about FIRST, answered questions, and passed around information to students who wanted to start a new team. We reached 60 kids in all. Legends Andrew and Violet attended the camp!
The Legends joined several other teams in Raceland, KY for Kickoff East, sponsored by KY FIRST. We watched the Into the Deep challenge with old and new friends. Then, we played the human robot game, experiencing the new game elements on the field. Thank you, Rambotics, for hosting! After Kickoff, we played Kahoot to better learn the game rules.
We joined with friends and families to collect and donate cleaning supplies for hurricane victims with the help of Mr. Oser's Paint and Flooring in Georgetown, KY, who was sending down a truck to Ashville, NC. Everyone participated and brought cleaning and hygiene supplies to our October 11th meeting.
League Meet #1
October 25, 2024 Morehead, KY
Two weeks later, we traveled to the Challenger Learning Center in Hazard for League Meet #2. The goal for this meet was to meet new teams in KY, provide encouragement as they started their FTC journey, and answer any questions that they had. We left with a lot of new friends!
The Lectric Legends proudly served as the host team for the Lexmark Bluegrass FIRST Lego League Regional Qualifying tournament on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Lexmark International in Lexington, KY. Before the event, we worked together to build all 60 mission models, learn the FLL game, and had a hand in many other preparatory tasks. The day of the events, the Legends volunteered as judges, referees, emcee, game queuers, and sound techs. We recruited parents, community members, and students from UK's Tau Beta Pi, resulting in over 40 volunteers in all.
Kentucky State Championship
February 1, 2025
On October 25th, we returned to Morehead University for League meet #1. We did not think we could get the claw done just yet, so our goal was to have a working push bot. We were able to program a basic autonomous mode to park the robot. During the meet we realized samples could get stuck under the robot, so we added cardboard barriers to avoid being penalized for possessing extra scoring elements. Despite challenges, we ended up ranked first!
