The 'Lectric Legends
Three of our eight team members were recognized as graduating seniors. Team member Nathan has been a LL for 2 years and has served as an integral part of the build team. Team member Naomi has been on the team for 4 years and served as lead on the media and engineering notebook team the last 2 years. Team member Zach has been on the team for 5 years and has served as the lead programmer for the last 2 years. Thank you, seniors!
For the first time ever, the Legends traveled to Springdale, Arkansas to participate in the AR State Championship. We enjoyed seeing our old friends, Tech Hogs and Browncoats, as well as meeting many, many new teams! Twenty-five teams participated in all. We came home with 3rd place for the Motivate Award and 3rd place for the Control Award!
KY Metro League Beaker Meet #1 & #2
Morehead State University
October 22nd & January 28th
Lectric Legends participated in Kentucky’s first ever League Play! Kentucky teams were required to attend 2 league plays – the Beaker Meets at Morehead University or the Dunker Meets at Murray State. Only 6 weeks after kick-off, we had a moving robot for the first League event. This early practice competition helped narrow our focus to see what worked well for our robot and what could improve. The second League Play in late January helped us to fine tune our robot and autonomous. Although it was tough to have a working robot so quickly, the team agreed that the League Plays really helped us better prepare for the KY Championship game.
The Legends repeatedly enjoy attending the Loveland Scrimmage each year, and this year was no exception! This practice competition gave us yet another opportunity to continue fixing and fine-tuning our robot, as well as seeing old friends and making new ones. We also won the Spirit Award! Here are three pictures of the evolution of our robot from the first cardboard rendition to the Loveland scrimmage to the KY State Championship in February. Yes, many changes and improvements!
